  • Introduction to Mandarin

    By the end of this 4 week course students will be able to ask and answer basic questions in Chinese and have simple dialogues about everyday life. Students will know approximately 75 Chinese words and be familiar with 50+ characters. Important aspects of Chinese culture will be covered as they related to each lesson in grammar and vocabulary. Speaking and listening comprehension skills will be emphasized during class time, however students will begin to learn how to read and write Chinese characters through optional homework assignments. We will also have an optional “5th class” at a local Chinese restaurant.
  • Spanish Beginning

    Spanish Beg. I will be covering Chapters 1 through 10 of Margarita Madrigal's books. We will be covering conjugation of regular verbs, and also learn irregular verbs "Ser and Estar". We will also cover the different parts of how to form a regular sentence with the basic parts of grammar like articles, nouns, prepositions and adjectives. We will implement basic conversation, like greetings, and how to ask questions, give directions. We will read and translate, and also watch "Destinos", a Spanish soap opera. We will use Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish. ISBN #978-0-385-41095-3 and Easy Spanish Reader ISBN #978-0-07-142-806-4 2nd or 3rd edition. *Books are not included.
  • Spanish Beginning III

    This class will take you through the paces of stem changing and irregular verbs in the present and past tenses. You will learn more about the plural forms of -ar, -er and -ir verbs in the present and past tenses. Other topics covered will include present and past tenses of the verb "to be" and the progressive tense. You will continue to use "Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish" by Margarita Madrigal and will cover chapters 5-8 in "Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Verb Tenses" by Dorothy Richmond.
