Veteran drivers will learn how to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. This is not a ticket removal course, but participants may obtain a reduction in car insurance upon completion. A supply fee of $20 for AARP members or $25 for non-members covers administrative costs, is due in class and is payable by cash or check made payable to AARP. AARP members must bring their membership card to class.

Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects and use special pieces to create your own unique designs! Projects are rotated seasonally to ensure that both new and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system.

Beginners welcome! Kids will learn to use a sewing machine to make a variety of complete projects. Projects include plushies, bags, purses, accessories, and garments All materials are included.

Our American Sign Language class teaches participants the basics of ASL and more. Participants will learn the alphabets, numbers and communication skills -receptive (listening) and expressive (speaking), with vocabulary and grammar. Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Come take a trip across Africa on an “Art Safari!” We will explore the landscapes, creatures, patterns, and textures of this great land. We will gather inspiration from African influences and various artists. Students will have fun working with pastels, acrylics on canvas, watercolor and more! Be sure to have your safari hats and binoculars ready for this adventure!

Does your child want to join a Pop or Rock band? The group will practice fundamental solfège exercises that will help in inspiring the next generation of vocal stars. Students will sing several pop and rock songs during the course and will have an opportunity to join the band. Join Gio with StringTheory6 In a future concert and be the music.

Our basketball skills training academy will prepare basketball players for their upcoming season. We will focus on shooting mechanics, one on one defense, scoring, ball handling, passing, mental preparation, fitness, conditioning, speed, agility training and much more. A key objective in our academy is to ensure that every athlete is challenged in an intense and fun atmosphere that will enable them to increase their basketball skills, maximize their performance and achieve peak condition. One of the most exciting parts of our academy is the implementation of daily nutritional education, personal development homework, mentoring activities in decision making, leadership, communication skills, self-image and team building with others.

Do you love Basketball? Want to play every day? Come learn how to play basketball in a fun and safe environment. We will practice the fundamental basics of dribbling, passing, catching, shooting, moving with and without the ball, and learn to play defense. Students will learn how to be team players and use different strategies while gaining a better understanding of sportsmanship and leadership. They will also learn a variety of basketball related games and activities such as shooting knockout, dribble knockout, sharks and minnows, 1 on 1, 3 on 3, 5 on 5 and more. The Brainiac Reading and Literacy Program is designed to meet emerging and beginning readers at their developmental level to build and support language and literacy. This program incorporates reading, writing, oral language, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension all within the context of stories and books. The program is flexible and highly individualized, using whole group, small group, and individual instruction to meet the needs of varying ages and developmental levels in one classroom. The NEISD Medication Aide Certification Program for Certified Nurses Aides is a Texas Health and Human Services approved training program. This course meets the required 140 hours, and students take the state examination at the program's conclusion. Class runs on Tuesday and Thursday from 9AM - 1PM at the NEISD Community Learning Center. Registration Appointments: Applicants must be employed as certified nurse aides listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry in active status and currently employed in a facility licensed under Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 242 on class start date or employed on class start date as non-licensed direct care staff in a facility licensed under Chapter 247; a state supported living center or ICF/IID and have 90 days previous employment in the year preceding the class start date. This class teaches young athletes the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the home team! Each participant will learn cheers, proper hand/body movements and jumping techniques. There is no stunting, just a big focus on fun while each cheerleader learns important life skills such as teamwork and leadership. The program concludes with a final cheer performance. Every child receives an award certificate, Skyhawks t-shirt and their own set of pom poms. Groups split by age / ability.

Students will learn all the basics of cheerleading, including cheer stunt instruction, jumps, motions and more in a dynamic environment. Although optional, uniforms will be discussed during the first class. Instruction provided by Texas Cheer and Dance.

Learn to smile and cheer yourself and others to success. You will love learning and practicing the various chants using Pom Poms, hula-hoops, batons, and ribbons. Learn to do a bridge, walk over, backbend, handstand, cartwheel and more. Practice a routine to music and have a great time with your friends.
