Basic Alterations: Hemming
Sewing machine experience needed. Finish that garment you’ve been meaning to alter and save money too. Never go to the tailor again! Bring 3 or more of your own garments to start altering in class. Class lessons will be driven by what garments students bring to class to work on. This class is all about hemming. Learn to measure and adjust hems, preserve original jeans hems, blind hem, and more! Class Requirements Sewing 101 or prior sewing machine experience What To Bring At least 3 garments minimum to practice designated techniques on. -
Foundation Paper Piercing
Sewing machine experience needed. Foundational paper piecing is a quilting technique in which you assemble beautiful fabrics using a paper pattern as your template. You actually sew the fabric directly onto the paper, then tear away the paper when you are done. This method allows you to sew different shapes and sizes that often are difficult to sew using traditional piecing methods. The result is intricate, colorful designs that you can incorporate into other projects such as table runners, wall hangings, placemats, and of course, quilts! Hand Sewing for Little Hands
For ages 4 to 7, or for people of any age who might need some extra fine motor practice. This class focuses on fine motor skills, attention span, bilateral coordination, motor planning, hand-eye coordination, special reasoning, counting and more. They'll be having so much fun, they won't even know they are learning! Learn to Sew Club
In Learn to Sew Club, kiddos age 5-8 will learn a mix of hand sewing and machine sewing (yes, they will learn to use a sewing machine! WOW!), focusing on working those fine motor skills, delaying gratification and expanding attention spans and encouraging self-patience. Projects may plushies, garments, fashion accessories, and more. Memory Teddy Bear
Machine sewing experience needed for this class. If you need to learn how to use a machine, please register for "Sewing 101--The Basics" before taking this class. In this class you will use your favorite fabric (or a large or XL cotton or flannel shirt) to create a snuggly teddy bear. We provide stuffing and the pattern. You'll learn: How to sew curves How to read a pattern Proper pinning and cutting technique How to manage a consistent seam around curves Handy tricks and tips to reduce frustration and increase JOY! ...and more! SAT Test Prep
This five-hour seminar will allow students to become more familiar with the SAT and give them a chance to improve their scores. A student could benefit from even a small score increase, in a scholarship or special honors courses and programs. awarding scholarships and when inviting students to enroll in special honors courses and programs. Experience shows that students who take this seminar achieve an average score increase of one to five points. Of course, the individual score increase depends on the amount of time and effort that students spend working with the materials they will receive at this seminar.
