  • Chen Style Taichi 18 Form

    Chen Style Taichi 18 Form is a short form for new students or advanced students who have some background in martial arts or other Taichi styles. The form is usually taught in two sections; the first section has 10 movements, and the second section has 8 movements. This class is a great entry point for people who want to progress to learn the Chen Old 1st Frame long form in the future. This class is taught once a week for two semesters. Each semester is approximately 3 months long, with a short break between semesters. After completing this course, students should be able to practice on their own. Instructor, Ming Xie, has been training and teaching Tai Chi for over 30 years. Her unique teaching method attracts a variety of people from all walks of life.
  • Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

    This course teaches the skills necessary to help save a life by recognizing cardiac arrest, calling 911, and providing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) along with hands-only CPR until EMS arrives. Students also learn the simple steps of using an AED (automated external defibrillator). The course is designed for those with little or no medical training. It covers recognizing problems, calling for appropriate help, and treating common first-aid emergencies until EMS arrives. The instructor is an AHA-certified teacher who is an experienced RN who has been taking CPR classes for 40 years. She has seen the best practices evolve over time into these effective and useful methods that can save lives. The course is taught in person, employs useful videos, is consistent in its content, easy to understand, and reinforces the procedures taught with lots of student practice. Upon completion of the coursework, students will receive AHA Heartsaver, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification lasting for 2 years.

    Stop the Bleed was designed by the American College of Surgeons and the Department of Defense. It is a worldwide initiative with more than three million people already trained. Participants learn to recognize and stop life-threatening bleeding. Participants learn and practice holding pressure on a wound, packing a wound and applying a tourniquet properly.

    Engage in a fun and moderately intense aerobic workout within the comfort of an indoor pool. This well-rounded routine combines the benefits of water-based exercise with strength training, allowing you to tone your body effectively. To participate, simply bring along two noodles, weights, and a belt because you will be in deep water (13ft.). Having some swimming skills can be helpful, although they are not required for participation. Location: Blossom Athletic Center *Note - Star Card members will need to process payment at the Community Learning Center and show card along with a valid photo identification to apply discount. No discount codes over the phone or for online registration. No punch cards.
